"Luang Prabang – A timeless town at the confluence of two rivers."

ABOUT LUANG PRABANG

The old capital of Laos has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1995. This picturesque town is located in northern Laos on a peninsula where the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers meet. It is renowned for its cultural heritage and well-preserved architecture, blending traditional Lao wooden houses with colonial European influences.

Surrounded by lush green mountain ranges, Luang Prabang is home to numerous richly decorated temples and pagodas. The city’s spiritual atmosphere is deeply embedded in daily life, with traditions that have been passed down for centuries. One of the most famous experiences is the early morning alms-giving ceremony, where monks in saffron robes walk through the streets collecting offerings.

The lively night market is another highlight, offering local handicrafts, textiles, and street food. I visited Luang Prabang for the first time in 2010, then returned in 2015 and 2017.
